Pokemon Yellow 3DS - MissingNo. / Item Duplication Glitch
Trki, Kody, Cheaty do
Preface: This was originally made for a friend, but it was too long to send in a message, so I had to upload it to YouTube. Some profanity is used. Filmed with an iPad. Background: Since the Old Man glitch was fixed after Red/Blue, this is how you can achieve the same item duplication in Yellow. This is also sometimes referred to as the Ditto Glitch. Basically, each Pokémon corresponds with a specific number of Special stat (also Prof. Oak and random trainers, but that's another story). So MissingNo.'s that are deemed "safe" are Special stat values 182, 183, and 184, apparently. If you want a specific Pokémon instead of a MissingNo., there is a list, along with other useful information, on GameFAQs. Here is one useful guide: http://www.gamefaqs.com/gameboy/198314-pokemon-yellow-version-special-pikachu-edition/faqs/27916 Implications: It is therefore possible to get Pokémon that do not appear in Yellow within the game (hence my nearly complete Pokédex). It's just a matter of keeping a long-range trainer around, having enough other trainers to battle, and raising a Pokémon to have the required Special stat that generates the desired Pokémon. In the event that no random trainers are left, apparently it's also possible to use the Elite Four in lieu of a random trainer, but refer to GameFAQs for that. Endnote: Gotta catch 'em all? Now you can! Even without friends! :) Personally, I don't really consider this "cheating" because it doesn't require the use of an external device (e.g., GameShark) to put a Pokémon into your game. You just have to make the game generate the Pokémon for you, which is what this does.

why do u need a Pokémon with the special of 182-184?
-
i ran into grimer instead of missing no...

I was wondering, does encountering a long range trainer but flying before battling "burn him/her out"? I just started Pokemon Yellow on VC and was wondering if I should be careful to leave a lot of trainers undefeated or just one/a handful.

Thanks this really helped. Planning to Hyper Train my Seismic Toss Charizard and my Bubble Beam Articuno in Pokemon Sun when Pokebank comes out.

Thank you, bro!!! You're the best!

I have many regrets as of attempting this glitch with a Pokémon with a glitched special stat of glitchtile. I ended having a horrific night attempting it. I was messing around with some glitches, and I decided to perform this glitch with a Pokémon that had a stat of glitchtile. The result was unbelievably unstable, and caused my actual VC to crash.

how did you get that alakazam
-
is there any way to preform the glitch to get all pokemon after you best the game? I've already battled all trainers and I wanna complete the pokedevx. I have yellow version
-
if you don't have a trainer to fight after the long range trainer, you can save by switching boxes, reset the game then go move the boulder in the game wardens house. you will have to fight another pokemon to get a special stat loaded in or go straight to the dittos.

You didn't use Pikachu?
-
How do you get those colors, mines black and white.

For some reason the old man isn't there for me HELP
-
go to the 2nd floor of the mewtwo cave to find a lvl 60 ditto easy
-
It worked once but the second time I tried it it just glitches the screen and either stays there or crashes. Any ideas on what I did wrong?

For people who cant find that special stat pokemon,
Go back to viridian forest and catch a lvl100 nidoking with the glicht(lot of videos about it)
Its special is about 170. Do not fight with any trainer with that nidoking. Go to cerulean city and go to the grass next to the cerulean cave. Kill a bellsprout and go to pc , deposit nidoking and withdraw. Its special will go up by 1. Keep defeating bellsprout and deposit/withdraw until you get to 182.
(Or with a 170 stat you can get a porygon first too) -
I'm doing glitch exactly as shown with a zapdos with a special of 182, but it won't let me press start but to fly back to fushia city? What can I do?
-
So evry time if you go to this place at 10:32 and you press start you see a missingno? Or does it work only one time?
-
For what ever reason I can't get the start menu to pop up while moving in yellow version, does it have to be a trainer that is below you? Or can I move right and push start at the same time?

Great stuff. Hoping the Ditto glitch Pokemon caught can be sent to Sun/Moon!
