Step By Step Tutorial: Step 1: Reset L4D2 Step 2: Create ANY ONLINE LOCAL hosted campaign map. Step 3: Write Sv_pure 1 Step 4: Write any map mapnames ( this will get you back to the main menu ) I.e: Map c1m1 /// Hit Enter Step 5: Write YOUR Map Mapname GameMode //GameModes: Campaign, Versus, Scavenge, Survival// **I.e: Map C8M5_rooftop Scavenge** Step 6: Write in your sv_cheats 1, sb_all_bot_game 1 ( For versus/scavenge ). Step 7: Enjoy!!! Note: If you want your friends to join your game, you need your ports 27015 to 27050 Open. They have to open THEIR console, and write the following, CONNECT "YOURIPADDRESS" ( Without Quotes ). Note: They can also use any console commands using their consoles. i.e. If they write sv_alltalk 1, they will be able to turn alltalk ON. didn't work sv_pure 1 doesn't even work, no map mapnames bullshit even exists in the game, and I can't go sv_cheats 1. Sorry your advice isn't helpful at all. Not trying to be rude.

Worked perfectly fine for me. So all these comments saying it doesn't work, clearly are doing it wrong.
Works to this day. (And probably never to be patched.)

Why the dislikes?, it works perfectly... I'm playing with a friend from another city using this method, I'm guessing NO ONE is reading the description, "If you want your friends to join your game, you need your ports 27015 to 27050 Open"

Tried this, my friend could not connect, but some random people were able to join.

i put in sv_pure 1 and it said sv_pure must be specified on the command like to function properly. any help?

The commands load the levels just fine, but sv_cheats 1 is still not allowed.
