The easiest thing to do is to end paying for our own destruction. Go vegan or don't complain.

we need to stabilize the global population

2010 huh - this is 2015 http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2015/06/18/3671377/pacific-ocean-massive-toxic-algal-bloom/ - will humans change quickly enough to save themselves?

hydrogen fuel cells for cars mandatory, until we begin limiting car ownership period :)
WE CAN'T TRAVEL INTERSTELLARLY SO WE MUST BE THE GENERATION THAT CHANGED HUMANITY, TO A NEW SELFSUSTAINING FORCE FOR LOVE AND CARING ABOUT EACH OTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
WE HAVE TO AGREE TO HAVE OUR GOVERNMENTS GOVERN; IF THEY DO NOT, WE HAVE TO FORM NEW GOVERNMENTS OF SUB-GOVERNING BODIES, OF ALL COUNTRIES TOGETHER (ITS ONE CONSUMER, EARTHLINGS) AND SUPERCEDE NONACTING GOVERNMENTS UNTIL WE ARE 1, CUTTING DOWN CONSUMING FOR NO REASON BUT VANITY, MAKING IT MOSTLY ILLEGAL SO LIKE A CUBA WE'RE FIXING NOT BUYING CARS, AND 2. WE ARE INSTILLING BIRTH CONTROL UNTIL THE GLOBAL DEATH-RATE OVERTAKES THE BIRTH-RATE BY 2 TO 1. When we are at 5 billion globally AND FALLING and we have a new, enlightened global community, we can then begin to see our destiny and place in our little galaxy. :)

How WE wrecked the ocean? Sorry... I don't remember doing anything to the ocean. However I don't mind to do my part to fix it, if I knew what that would be. Don't eat certain fish, don't support this or that company or what ever. This guy is supposed to be a foremost expert on ocean life and his solution is for me/us to stop being greedy, because my and other human's dignity depends on it. How about some real implementable solutions instead of the old empty meaningless platitudes. How about sanctions against countries who are responsible for the vast majority of the problem with no pretty speeches to point out the problem (because they might get locked up). Or ways to farm fish large scale that would produce healthier fish without pollution that would put at least a large part of common large scale fishing practices out of business. Or at least tell me what I as Joe Schmoe consumer can do... other than to chain myself to a Chinese fishing vessel as it is about to fish for shark fins (fish only) or similar unattainable stuff.

We need a UN Declaration on a Sustainable Human Diet & to enforce that but instead we're into another round of GWOT courtesy of the latest Dr. Evil & the Hydrocarbon MNCs war over Pipelineistan. 'The Levantine War', if it sounds like a designer conflict it's because it is. Climate Change should be tackled indirectly via patterns of consumption starting with the banning of meat as a fast-food & the closure of commercial fisheries. The Global Commons are dying & must be closed off & protected.

yup, earth has been here for 4 billion years, and we are gonna wreck it in less than 200.. ok, keep telling yourself that. Never mind the 100,000 year cycle of heating and cooling due to Milankovitch cycles or the fact that we have been entering the peak of one of those cycles for a while now.. Lets keep talking about how WE are so important that WE have the ability to destroy something that has endured for longer than we can fathom.

We really are killing this planet...
-
very interesting about oceans
-
Humanity has it coming
-
Yes true, so what's your point?
-
with what money? ....ours
-
Yh but the leaders also want this and have more power to do so and as u say if companies will make more money doing something then most of them will do it no matter what the environmental cost. With great power comes great responsibility!

Very empowering talk. It really is up to us, the people, to do something about climate change and environmental degradation. We make the choice to drive our cars, eat fish and meat, buy environmentally harmful electronics, throw away perfectly usable items instead of trying to lower our consumption and conserve our resources. "Be the change you want to see in the world" said Ghandi...

well war worked before the bomb.....sigh :P
