How to stay calm when you know you'll be stressed | Daniel Levitin
Trki, Kody, Cheaty do
You're not at your best when you're stressed. In fact, your brain has evolved over millennia to release cortisol in stressful situations, inhibiting rational, logical thinking but potentially helping you survive, say, being attacked by a lion. Neuroscientist Daniel Levitin thinks there's a way to avoid making critical mistakes in stressful situations, when your thinking becomes clouded — the pre-mortem. "We all are going to fail now and then," he says. "The idea is to think ahead to what those failures might be." very vague talk...I was left guessing what was the main point....

Think ahead is a good technique but sometimes you don't have enough time to do this. One of the best techniques here is to stay calm under stressfull situation.

Soooo, hope for the best, prepare for the worst?

bullshit... :/ 1 person in 300 helped does not mean statin will lower cholesterol of just 1 in 300, it will lower cholesterol in all 300 patients... but had all those 300 not taken the statin, 1 of them would be dead... it's the correct explanation... 0.3% probability doesn't sound much, but if you are unfortunately in it, you lose all 100% of your life... now here comes the "would you rather"... would you rather gamble that there is a 0.3% chance of losing 100% of your life or 5% chance of minor discomfort (severe complications he mentioned are even less than 0.03% prevalent) and keep the 100% of your heart... :) sounds like a nice way of counseling my patients...

worst presentation ever. completely off topic and 2nd grade obvious information

This seems more closely related to his book called "The Organized Mind" than the title. When I say more closely, I'm thinking the research for it. Since he didn't discuss statistics or the pre mortem that much in the book...

Don't feed me this crap. Bloody Statisticians.

What a Moron...!! I am ashamed of being a psychology student myself now, thanks!

Anyone here because FUTChampions is too fucking stressful?
-
Did he really just say that Cortisol is toxic? So the human body evolved over thousands of years to release toxins into itself under stress. This guy is a moron. He belongs speaking at a Tedx.
-
Rambles on and on about a topic totally unrelated to what was advertised. Going home and saying to himself..... damn I fooled another bunch of morons who paid me to talk rubbish.

Whenever I watch this I get sleepy lol

This video is almost a guide to how to trigger your anxiety by someone who clearly has no idea how people work
