If I give a claimant a honorary title mechanism works the same?
-
I just had to post and say, great video but lol it was like listening to a news reader, it was epic lol

I had a game I played as duke of tuscany and conquered the papacy but something weird happened afterwards. The pope (and rome) became independent again for no apparent reason. Can anybody explain why this happened? It was under the pre-way of life patch with all the dlc up to and including Charlemagne, by the way.

Maybe it has been said already, but if, as the sicily king, you attack someone to claim his territory, and he got TWO counties, then he'll not become your vassal. He'll retract to the county he has left, and you'll get the targeted county for yourself.
-
You didn't mention my favorite method: simply letting your vassals fabricate claims on neighboring provinces.
-
My favorite is becoming the Emperor and then making the Pope my vassal. With him as your vassal you can literaly take entire Kingdoms in one war. It takes a while to become an Emperor, but once you do it's a great thing to have the Pope as your vassal, especialy in a competative multiplayer game.

Actually fabricated clams CAN be passed down, but as weak claims if I remember correctly, if they were pressed in a war that ended in a white peace. Other than that picky detail it was a good tutorial as always.
-
You forgot the easiest one of all (at least to start), neighboring a heretic/infidel and starting a holy war.

I've been playing CKII since it's been on Steam and I've never known how to use title claimants until now. Tried them a few times (without making them a title holder first) and got burned when they just shifted to the other realm. Thank you. And my friend who I urged to buy CKII says thank you too.

It's also tempting to want to get a lot of land at once by inviting a title claimant to a duchy or kingdom to your court, but unless you hold a higher title than the one you are claiming, they'll just become independent again
-
You don't always have to grant claimants a landed title within your realm. If you are their de jure liege, or if they are of your dynasty I believe they will also become your vassal.

nice video Rojuiro, i will grant you 'Keeper of the Swans' title to express my gratitude. Now give me all your men, we have to remove the KARLINGZZZZZ
-
It's true that if you conquer a single county ruler with a de jure claim then that ruler becomes your vassal, however, if you conquer a county which is owned by an enemy vassal who owns more than one county, he will not become your vassal and you will gain the county personally. It doesn't have to be a county that the top liege owns.

This is a really good video for new players, I couldnt figure out how to get a claim on a province for so long when i was a new player haha
-
you forgot to say you can ask the pope to give you claims in counties or dutchies of others catholic rulers for a piety cost. just holy war a bunch and befriend the pope. then ask for claims in the dutchies of another kingdom and then declare a war using the "press all claims" casus belli.
-
I think you forgot to mention that you can fabricate claims on entire duchies if your chancellor has at least 16 diplo.

This video is very helpful for all the new players starting to play Crusader Kings 2. Great job Rojiru!
